Privacy Policy for Catch The Light
This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile game Catch The Light (“the App”), operated by Abrar Amin (“we”, “us”), handles information collected through use of the App.
Information We Collect
When you play Catch The Light, the following limited data is collected:
- Display name — a 2-to-16 character name that you choose and enter on first launch. Used solely to identify you on the leaderboard.
- Anonymous user identifier — a randomly generated ID assigned by Google Firebase Authentication. It is not linked to your real identity, email, phone number, or any account you hold elsewhere.
- Game scores — the scores you achieve in each game mode, alongside your display name and anonymous ID, so you can appear on the global leaderboard.
- Automatic diagnostic and usage data — collected by Google Firebase / Google Analytics for Firebase, including device model, operating system version, app version, country, language, and aggregated usage events (e.g. session start, screen view). This helps us monitor stability and improve the App.
We do not collect: your real name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, location, advertising identifiers, payment information, or any data from outside the App.
How We Use the Information
- To display your score and name on the public global leaderboard.
- To prevent the same player from posting multiple entries.
- To monitor crashes and overall app performance.
How the Information Is Stored and Shared
- Display name and scores are stored in Google Firebase Firestore and are publicly readable by other players (the entire point of a leaderboard).
- Anonymous user IDs are managed by Google Firebase Authentication.
- Diagnostic data is processed by Google as a sub-processor under their Firebase data processing terms.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your information with any third party for advertising or marketing.
Data Retention
- Leaderboard entries (name, score, anonymous ID) are retained indefinitely unless you request deletion.
- Diagnostic data is retained per Google Firebase’s default policies.
Your Rights
You may request that we delete your leaderboard entry by emailing infocatchthelight@gmail.com with the display name you used. Because the user identifier is anonymous, please include enough information for us to locate your entry. See our Data Deletion page for the recommended template.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us at the email above and we will delete the entry.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
